Meet Our Team

Kristi 2Kristina “Kristi” Coop Gordon, Ph.D. Director~Kristi received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her clinical psychology internship at the Brown University Consortium. She is currently Professor and Associate Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee. She is the co-author of two books on how to help couples recover following infidelity, and of numerous articles on forgiveness, infidelity, intimate partner violence, marital distress and depression. With Relationship Rx, she is turning her focus to how to improve relationship health instead of simply treating marital distress. Dr. Gordon is a co-investigator on two large federal grants investigating how intimate relationships affect behavioral and mental health. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Psychological Association’s Society for Family Psychology (Division 43) and served two nationally elected terms as Vice-President of Science for Division 43 and as co-president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Couples Research and Therapy Special Interest Group.  She also maintains a small private practice specializing in couple therapy. Finally, and most importantly, she is mom to two great daughters and wife to a supportive husband.
KerriKerri Martin, Ph.D. Program Administrator ~Kerri received her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in Special Education. She served formerly on the faculty of East TN State University. She manages the participant databases and business side of the Relationship Rx program, including supervision of program staff and communications with our partners. In addition to managing Rx, she is a contributing author for the Special Education division of the Pearson textbook company. She has been married for 25 years to a great guy she met while they were both serving in the US Peace Corps, and she is the mom of a teenage daughter and a teenage son.
PatriciaRoberson2Patricia Roberson, Ph.D. Data Manager ~ Patricia received her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia in child and family development and an MS from Purdue University in child and family studies with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy. She received her Ph.D. at the University of TN. Research interests include changes in couple interaction over time and romantic relationships among emerging adults. Additionally, she has an MS degree in statistics with the Intercollegiate Graduate Statistics program.
AshleyBAshley Banks- Brittenum, B.A., Recruiter~Ashley enrolls couples into the program by getting them registered and setting up appointments for the assessments. Ashley majored in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. She is pursuing her Master’s degree in Social Work, and plans to become a marriage therapist.
lmiranda (1)Lucia Miranda, B.A., Facilitator/Relationship Health Professional ~ Lucia guides couples through their Relationship Check-up and provides them with feedback to promote their intimacy and relationship health. She works with English- and Spanish-speaking couples. Lucia is currently working on her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee.
Clay CulpClay Culp, LMSW, Facilitator/Relationship Health Professional ~ Clay works collaboratively with couples to understand both their strengths and concerns, providing personalized feedback to help couples promote intimacy. A former journalist, Clay scratches his media itch by blogging and regularly appearing on local TV for Relationship Rx. With a master’s degree in social work, Clay also works in crisis services for Helen Ross McNabb Center. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at UT.
David RRx ShotDavid White, M.A., Facilitator/Relationship Health Facilitator ~ David is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  He partners with the Relationship Rx team by engaging couples who are looking for insight into their relationship through assessment and feedback.  He also works in a private practice with Ebenezer Counseling Service and offers seminars.  David is married and has 2 children.
AudreyAudrey Kasting, M.S., NCC Resource Specialist and Facilitator/Relationship Health Professional ~ Audrey guides couples through their Relationship Check-up and provides them with personalized feedback, options, and other resources. She also works with couples to connect them with additional resources, and is a regular contributor to our website blog and Facebook. She has her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.
ElizabethElizabeth Buenrostro, B.A. Spanish-speaking Recruiter/Community Liaison~Elizabeth primarily works with partner organizations to recruit Spanish speaking couples. She also assists facilitators with couples’ sessions. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Tennessee and hopes to attend graduate school to become a therapist.
AdamAdam York, M.A., Supervising Facilitator and Community Liaison/Facilitator/Relationship Health Professional ~ Adam received his M.A. from Johnson University in Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Counseling. He has spent most of his career working with youth in ministry, inpatient, and outpatient settings. He works with couples to assess their marital health and gives them feedback on ways to grow in their intimacy with one another. He enjoys going to the zoo with his amazing little two year old son or going out for some late night dessert with his even more amazing wife. He also works part-time at Ebenezer Counseling Services.
stacy headshotStacy Hernandez, M.A., Resource Specialist/Facilitator/Relationship Health Professional ~ Stacy helps couples look at their strengths and concerns in their relationship. Focusing on encouraging the strengths and improving the concerns through guided skills and suggestions relevant to the marriage checkup. Stacy has her Masters of Arts in Family psychology and has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 7 years.  She has been married for 14 years, has 2 children and enjoys working with couples.
CaitlinCaitlin Deaver, B.A., Assistant Manager and Follow up Specialist ~Caitlin serves as a liaison for the program during her work with the Lisa Ross Birth and Women’s Center. She is in charge of One- and Six-month follow ups with all program participants, and helps supervise the undergraduate Research Assistants in the program. While doing some recruiting, she is primarily responsible for supervising RAs and assisting the Program Administrator and Data Manager. Caitlin majored in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology.
MelanieMelanie Miller, Recruiter/Research Project Coordinator/Resource Specialist Intern ~ Melanie is pursuing her B.A in Psychology and Child and Family Studies with a minor in Philosophy. She works with the Program and Data Managers to advise Research Assistants in the selection and execution of research projects beneficial to the Relationship Rx program. She also works with the Resource Specialists to provide referrals to couples in need of additional services.
Kayla2Kayla Byerly, Recruiter ~ Kayla is pursuing her B.A in Psychology and Child and Family Studies. She works at recruitment events and interviews couples to enroll them in the program. Kayla began with the program as a Research Assistant for two semesters, and continues to assist in the field and with data entry.
